“As the Production Manager, my primary responsibility during the Production and Print phase is to shepherd jobs from the Prepress stage to delivery. This entails ensuring that the correct materials are fit for purpose and align with cost guidelines, as well as collaborating with account handlers to accurately specify job requirements from the outset. Once a job progresses through the prepress department, I work alongside the Print Supervisor to schedule the appropriate machinery for the task. Each job is meticulously briefed, and a detailed job sheet is created outlining materials, usage, finishing, and delivery methods. Throughout the production process, operators meticulously document each stage to ensure compliance with specifications and fault-free execution.”
“Finally, I oversee the packing process to ensure that each item is adequately protected for safe delivery to the client. My role is pivotal to the successful execution of projects, as effective communication between departments hinges on my coordination. Without this role, there would be a risk of misdirection, inefficiencies in material yield, and disorganisation within departments.”
The production phase encompasses a series of key steps, from concept approval to the final product. Each job receives careful attention to detail, with testing of materials, sizes, and production methods as needed. We maintain open communication channels, utilising methods such as team calls and face-to-face client visits to discuss methods, end results, and timelines.
Coordination with various stakeholders is essential for a seamless production process. We utilise our own workflow system, accessible to all employees, to manage job progress from inquiry to payment. Additionally, a live document allows stakeholders to track job status, methods, and costs in real-time.
Quality control is paramount at every stage of production. Operators’ complete documentation at each step to ensure adherence to specifications, and regular spot checks by supervisors and managers maintain high standards. Any faults are promptly identified, addressed, and used as opportunities for continuous improvement.
Our partnerships with reliable vendors ensure quality and timely delivery. With signed NDAs in place, we maintain the integrity of KGK Genix standards when working with external vendors. By establishing timelines in advance, we can accommodate client needs through strategic planning, including overtime or alternative solutions as necessary.
