Step 5: Installation And Dispatch

07/03/24

Welcome to the final blog of the Series outlining the last stage of a project! Let’s explore Step 5: Installation and Dispatch.

Installation And Dispatch Manager

At the final point of the project management process, my primary responsibility revolves around ensuring the seamless delivery of our goods and installations. This entails booking and scheduling installs and deliveries while maintaining constant communication with our account managers.”

“My role plays a key part in the project’s overall success. Operating at the tail end of the project life cycle, I witness the result of everyone’s hard work as it joins into a final, tangible piece.

Client Interaction

When clients initiate contact for installation and dispatch, the typical process involves coordinating dates, times, and details with the account manager. This information is then relayed to the installation and dispatch manager, prompting the booking of appropriate personnel and equipment to complete the job.

Client Engagement

Before commencing the installation process, a request for information from clients is essential, including dates, times, contacts, access details, and any necessary permits. Clear communication and alignment with the client’s expectations are ensured through a comprehensive brief, outlining potential outcomes of the final install.

Installation Process

The installation process begins with a brief, outlining the desired placement and method of installation. Dispatch starts with communicating with multiple installers to determine availability, confirm arrangements with the account manager, and provide detailed briefings. Throughout the installation phase, constant communication ensures any questions or issues are promptly addressed.

Key Milestones and Checkpoints

For installation, key milestones include the start and end of the process, while dispatch involves tracking the parcel from departure to delivery, with special attention to any customs-related challenges.

Challenges and Solutions

Common challenges during installation include finding installers on short notice, which is mitigated by maintaining close relationships with reliable subcontractors. For dispatch, navigating European customs presents a challenge, addressed through thorough preparation and strategic partnerships with reliable courier services.
