KGK Genix was approached by Bulkhead, marking our first project for this brand-new client, to bring to life their concept for the upcoming Develop Expo in Brighton. Running alongside the Develop: Brighton conference, the event attracts some of the most innovative companies from every sector of game development.
The team at Bulkhead were looking to create something unique that would set them apart from their competitors at the show. They had a proposition and a brave message that they wanted to convey to the assembled masses in a fun and innovative way, echoing their ‘game first culture’.
After an initial briefing and brainstorming session, we were totally aligned!
We discussed and developed the idea together with the client, and the challenge was set: deliver an innovative ‘stand-out-stand’ in a 3x3m space… challenge accepted!
Our creative team were fully engaged, and we began the process of bringing our ideas to life. This project allowed us to showcase the full scope of our creative offering – end-to-end… Creative Direction, Concept Development, 3D Visualization, Creative Artworking, and Technical Drawings. Bulkhead loved it!
Next steps… we got technical. It’s one thing to design something, but it’s quite another to turn the visuals into the physical. It’s all about the detail – high-quality bespoke printed graphics, complemented by many different props, all sourced and produced by our Creative team. Every detail was considered in order to give the ‘room’ a sense of authenticity, from ‘used’ coffee cups to handwritten post-it notes; no detail was overlooked.
What We Offered
From initial briefing, the client shared a selection of images for inspiration, we created three design concepts for the client to choose from. After the selection, we carried the chosen design through to installation. The entire process included design concept creation, artwork, rendering, project management, client team calls, production, installation, and dismantling at the end of the event.
Our brief was to create an eye-catching 3m x 3m stand at the Conference for Bulkhead, a sister company to Splash Damage. Bulkhead wanted to communicate their USP of a 4-day working week as a way to boost brand awareness. The idea was to design and build a stand that portrayed this message to exhibitors and visitors at the event.
The concept behind the ‘broken hole’ in the wall was to symbolise breaking out of the old, tired office into Bulkhead’s dynamic environment, as depicted on the big screen. This was a temporary stand, up for a two-day event, but designed to make a lasting impression.
This exhibition stand was a great project to work on and certainly got the attention it deserved at the show! The stand created conversations, and many visitors mistook it for an escape room or a scene from a computer game, leading to further questions about what Bulkhead does as a company.
We delivered a stand concept that stood out from the crowd, attracted many visitors, and most importantly, engaged with the target audience.
We loved every minute of this project. The clients were a dream to work with, and we were proud of what we created. We hope this will be the first of many projects we deliver for them.
