SHE SEES Exhibition

Project Management, Design Collaboration, Production and Installation

The Brief

This exhibition stand for SHE SEES, at Portsmouth Historic Dockyard, was designed to celebrate women’s involvement in the Maritime Industry. It explores and highlights the wide variety of roles undertaken and the invaluable contribution women have made to the maritime industry as a whole. We were asked to create a semi-permanent exhibition with three main elements in mind: visually appealing, durable and sustainable.

The Work

We had comprehensive involvement in this project, providing project management, design collaboration, production and installation, ensuring that the final output matched the original vision. We worked closely with other key project members, including the design and photography team from Sama Creatives, to ensure all exhibition elements came together seamlessly.

The exhibition required a variety of materials, including:

  • MDF Modular Wall and Totem Clads (MXL): Used to create the display structures.
  • Hanging Fabric Banners and Fixings: These added visual depth and movement to the exhibition space.
  • Printed Wall Vinyl: Custom printed to match the brand colours, ensuring an on-brand theme.
  • Printed ACM Panels: Used for displaying archival imagery, offering a premium finish.
  • Printed Brushed ACM Panels: These panels provided a sleek and modern style of text.
  • Printed Cut Vinyl: Used to highlight key quotes throughout the exhibition, adding an engaging element for visitors.

Challenges and Solutions

We conducted several site visits to Boathouse 4 to gain a thorough understanding of the space and environment, which guided our material selections and installation methods. Throughout the process, we provided material samples and updates to ensure the client was satisfied and the result aligned with their vision. Regular meetings with the MXL production team were also key in coordinating the production and installation of the exhibition.

The Result

The exhibition was successfully installed and has been well-received by both the client and visitors. One of the most rewarding aspects of this project was the positive feedback from the client –

“The bulk of the work has now been completed – with your amazing support, so thank you for that, we’ve thoroughly enjoyed working alongside you, as we can count on you to deliver top-quality work.”

We loved working on this project and think the outcome truly reflects the organisation’s vision. If you’re interested in collaborating on any future projects get in touch!
